The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) was established in 2005 as a part of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC, a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services’) initiatives to advance interoperability in healthcare through the harmonization of health information technology standards.
