Microsoft Teams - Georgia Technology Authority uses cloud-based technology to transform business

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is a public–private partnership that supervises the delivery of technology services to state and local government agencies with the goal of improving security and modernizing technology. The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) at GTA had always assembled its Enterprise Critical Projects Review (eCPR) panel binders manually for meeting attendees. When the COVID-19 health crisis hit, the majority of the agency’s employees were forced to work remotely, and digitizing workflow and documentation became a high goal. The agency switched to Microsoft Teams for its eCPR meetings, which removed the need for manual binders.

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is a public–private partnership that supervises the delivery of technology services to state and local government agencies with the goal of improving security and modernizing technology. The Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) at GTA delivers focused services and experience to help State of Georgia government agencies make effective technology investment decisions and outcomes.

Pivoting to Teams was an obvious next step for the EPMO, which had previously used other Microsoft products such as Office 365 and SharePoint. The majority of state agency initiatives are now managed by Teams. As a result, rather than depending on in-person, manual sharing, more state government stakeholders can now view and share meeting records virtually.

GTA made an opportune change, according to Teresa Reilly, Director at the EPMO. She says, “Moving to Teams was one of the best things we ever did, and it was just in time,” she notes. While a clear Teams implementation strategy posed hurdles for the entire organization, EPMO leadership intended to strengthen digital cooperation in the long run to complement and enhance its offerings. The agency’s workflow is fully supported by the solutions bundle. EPMO has aided internal collaboration towards a hybrid work culture by working with Teams. Teams will be an important instrument for the agency’s project work and stakeholder collaboration. The EPMO expects higher employee productivity and stakeholder involvement across the agency as it continues to deploy its Microsoft products.
